Algieri camp denies spying on Pacquiao's training sessions

MACAU — There's nothing that could shatter the concentration of Team Algieri — not even an accusation that they were spying on the training of Manny Pacquiao.

Keith Trimble, Chris Algieri's conditioning coach, said they are not worried over reports that one of their team members was caught filming Pacquiao in the final leg of his preparation for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title clash on Sunday at the Cotai Arena inside The Venetian here.

On Thursday, Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach kicked out Cara Castronuova, accusing the woman of providing Team Algieri with footage of Pacquiao in action. A fitness trainer, Castranuova admitted to have been filming Pacquiao, but denied Roach's accusation, saying that she will be using the video as materials for her documentary that will be aired after the fight.

Castranuova is a regular fixture during Pacquiao's media workout in the basement gym of the hotel and was often seen with a video camera.

Trimble denied knowing Castronuova, saying that the comely fitness trainer is neither part of their team nor sending them footage of Pacquiao's preparations.

"No, not at all," Trimble said. "I'm not concerned about what somebody is doing in the final few days leading to the fight. It's none of our business. Not at all."

Algieri's trainer Tim Lane also played down the issue.

"We're not worried about something that has no direct involvement to us," he said, adding that Roach is just getting frustrated over a possible defeat.

"I understand where Freddie is coming from," he added. "He knows his boxing and where Chris is headed. If I were him, I will also bark the same way he did." — STR/JST, GMA News
