Roach 'watching tape again' to prepare Pacquiao for Mayweather

Shortly after Manny Pacquiao's dominant victory over Chris Algieri on Sunday in Macau, the Filipino's trainer Freddie Roach has already shifted his focus to the possibility of the long-awaited showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"I'm watching tape again," Roach told Yahoo! Sports. Pacquiao's camp concentrated on the welterweight fight with Algieri for the past three months, but the trainer reportedly spent some time watching Mayweather's bouts in preparation for the super bout.

Roach is positive the fight could finally be made reality next year, sharing that he made an effort to arrange a dialogue between veteran promoter Bob Arum and CBS chairman Leslie Moonves last summer.

The negotiation is reportedly already in full swing and a deal is expected to be reached early next year.

Pacquiao was asked about the possibility of finally fighting Mayweather just moments after his hand was raised.

"It's a good thing that we talk about that fight. It's time to say 'yes,'" Pacquiao said in the post-fight press conference. — Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
