By the numbers: Pacquiao's dominance against Chris Algieri


MACAU — Manny Pacquiao dominated Chris Algieri in a lopsided affair to retain his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title Sunday at the Cotai Arena inside The Venetian here.
And the numbers show just how dominant the Filipino slugger was. 
 
Pacquiao won the fight by a lopsided margin, with a score of 120-102 from judge Michael Pernick and 119-103 from judges Patrick Morely and Levi Martinez.
 
According to Compubox statistics, Pacquiao 229 out of the 669 shots thrown for an impressive 34 percent accuracy. On the other hand, Algieri landed only 108 punches out of the 469 punches he threw for only 29 present.
 
Pacquiao was also impressive in landing power shots. 
 
The eight-division world champion connected 187 out of 410 power shots for a 46 percent connection ratio while Algieri landed only 80 of the 212 power punches for a rate of 38 percent.
 
Pacquiao converted those numbers into a six-knockdown destruction and an overwhelming victory over Algieri that reinstated him to elite status. — STR/JST, GMA News
