Binay, Pacquiao raise hands but champ says it’s not about politics

Vice President Jejomar Binay and world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao raised each other's hands during the hero's parade Makati City held for the fighter on Thursday.

The Saranggani congressman, however, indicated that the hand-raising was more about his victory in the ring rather than an endorsement for higher office.

"Hindi pa buo yung desisyon ko for national. Kino-consider ko din yung responsibilidad ko bilang congressman, bilang boksingero, bilang family man," Pacquiao said.

"Marami tayong ginagawa, kung mag-announce man ako sa tamang panahon," he added.

Apart from his duties in boxing and in Congress, Pacquiao also serves as a playing coach for Kia in the PBA.

Binay ally

Pacquiao, who also serves as representative of Sarangani, is an ally of Binay. Last October, Pacquiao took time out from his training for Algieri to welcome Binay to General Santos City.

"Maraming mga isyung lumabas about sa ating Vice President pero isa lang ang sasabihin ko sa inyo," said Pacquiao of Binay. "Ang mabuting tao, ang mabuting pulitiko hindi marunong manira ng kapwa."

Before that, Binay's United Nationalist Alliance said that Pacquiao was among the names it was considering as a possible senatorial candidate in 2016. —NB/JST, GMA News
