Pinay gets 15 years in Hong Kong over drug trafficking

A Filipina was sentenced to 15 years in jail in Hong Kong over drug trafficking, a News TV Live report said Friday.

Imelda Gimena Penascosa was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to drug trafficking last November 8.

Penascosa, a former domestic worker in Macau, was arrested in February 2016 for trying to smuggle four kilos of cocaine worth P26 million in Hong Kong airport.

The report said while in Macau, Penascosa had a relationship with a foreigner who invited her to set up a business in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

In Dubai, Penascosa met Filipinos who asked her to bring several boxes supposedly containing chocolates to the Philippines.

The Filipina was arrested during a stopover in Hong Kong after authorities there learned that the boxes she was carrying contained illegal drugs. —KBK, GMA News
