DFA, PHL Embassy urged to probe death of Super Tekla’s sister in Kuwait

Pro-OFW group Blas F. Ople Policy Center (BOFC) on Wednesday called on the government to look into the death of Kapuso comedian Romeo "Super Tekla" Librada's sister in Kuwait.

"We call on the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) to instruct our embassy in Kuwait to immediately request for an investigation into the alleged suicide case," BOFC chief Susan Ople told GMA News Online.

"The OFW's family deserves to know the truth."

Ople issued the statement after Librada, in a Facebook post, appeals for government help in determining what really happened to his sister, an OFW in Kuwait.

"Considering how much laughter Super Tekla brings to thousands of OFWs through his shows, it's time that our government agencies lend him and his grieving family comfort and support including legal assistance, when called for," Ople said.

Librada said their family would accept it if investigation shows his sister really committed suicide.

"Ngayon po, kung siya naman po talaga ay nagpakamatay, tatanggapin po namin 'yan, pero please, kailangan po namin na matulungan kami ng ating Embassy at ng ating gobyerno para matingnan at mabigyan ng agarang aksyon ang pagkamatay ng kapatid ko sa Kuwait," he said.

He hopes the Embassy will probe his sister's case and that of other abused OFWs to prevent further deaths or cases where deaths are made to look like suicides. —KBK, GMA News
