Abused OFW in Saudi Arabia says employer pointed a gun at her

A Filipino domestic helper in Saudi Arabia has accused her employers of maltreating her, GMA News' JP Soriano reported on 24 Oras on Thursday.

In a video posted on social media, "Rose" said she has been experiencing nothing but verbal abuse from her employers, a Saudi couple, since she started working for them in June last year.

Aside from this, she said her employers also don't feed her well and make her work for more than eight hours a day.

She said push came to shove when her male employer, a policeman in Riyadh, pointed a gun at her.

"Pagpasok niya dun sa may tapat ng kusina na nakatayo ako, tinutukan niya ako ng baril," Rose tearfully said, adding she started fearing for her life after this incident.

Rose, who also said she was locked inside the house by her employers, said she has sought assistance from her recruitment agency in the Philippines, but the firm refused to believe her and instead asked her to pay P200,000 if she wants to go home.

"Ayoko dito ako mawalan ng hininga," Rose said. "Sabi ko ang bata ko pa, wala naman akong ginagawang masama sa kanila."

The report said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is already taking action on Rose's case. —KBK, GMA News
