Saudi authorities already have 'person of interest' in Pinay's death

Saudi authorities already have a "person of interest" in the death of a 52-year-old Filipino worker in Jeddah whose body was found in a hotel room last week, according to Consul General Edgar Badajos.

"May mga CCTV footage and based on that merong tinatawag silang person of interest," said Badajos in a report by GMA News' Victoria Tulad on Balitanghali on Tuesday.

Badajos said the person of interest "is not Filipino. That's what we can be sure of."

The OFW, a salon worker whose name has been withheld, was missing for three days before her body was found. Badajos said based on the initial police report, the cause of death has yet to be determined.

"We don't have any information yet on how the body looked like when it was found," he said. "Ang alam lang natin ay du'n sa initial report ng pulis, unknown pa rin yung cause of death."

Personnel from the Philippine Consulate are already coordinating with the victim's relatives in Sarangani, Badajos said, adding they are also set to meet the victim's fellow workers in Saudi Arabia.

"Pinapunta ko sila (fellow workers), dapat matanong din natin kasi yung mga iniwan niyang gamit sa kanyang kuwarto raw. We want to protect the property," Badajos said. —KBK, GMA News
