No Pinoys hurt in Woolsey Fire in California —consul general

No Filipinos were affected by the Woolsey Fire in Southern California, according to Adelio Angelito Cruz, the Philippine Consul General in Los Angeles, in an interview on Balitanghali on Monday.

"Kami naman po ay nagpapasalamat sa Diyos na wala pong Pilipino ang naapektuhan dito," Cruz said, as he explained that the Woolsey Fire is different from the one raging in Northern California which has been dubbed Camp Fire.

One Filipino lost home due to the Camp Fire, the Balitanghali report said, citing the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Cruz said Woolsey Fire is 88 percent contained and that three fatalities were reported due to it.

Almost 97 acres or 39, 000 hectares of land were consumed by the fire, he said.

Cruz advised Filipino communities to ask for assistance from the US Red Cross in case they need help.

US Red Cross," he said.

"Sila ang may logistical capability na makatulong," he added. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
