309 Filipinos assisted in Ukraine amid invasion by Russia –DFA

The Philippine government so far assisted 309 Filipinos in Ukraine amid the invasion by Russia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported.

In a tweet, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola reported that 150 Filipinos were repatriated as of March 11, while 159 were evacuated or were already out of Ukraine.

Twenty-three Filipinos would arrive in the country on Friday.

The DFA had previously ordered the mandatory evacuation of all Filipinos following the tension between the two countries.

"Due to the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, the Department of Foreign Affairs raised the crisis alert level for all areas in Ukraine to Alert Level 4 (Mandatory Repatriation)," a DFA advisory read.
