Itinerary for Pope Francis’ 2015 PHL visit to be released later this year

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle on Thursday said the itinerary for the visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines in January 2015 will be released later this year, following a visit from representatives of the Vatican.

Asked about the development regarding the visit, Tagle laughed, saying, "So far, matutuloy naman."

The Manila Archbishop said they expect Vatican representatives to come back to the Philippines by late November or early December to see the progress of preparations.

"Ang ating mga committee ay pagod na pagod at busy sa paghahanda. The Vatican committee in charge of the Pope's international visits will come back to see the progress of preparation," he said.

He added that the details of the final program of the visit will be made available after that.

In July, Manila and the Vatican jointly announced the Pope's visit on January 15 to 19, 2015.

Tagle said in the press briefing that they have not received official information on speculations that the Pope will head straight to the Philippines, and if his visit to Sri Lanka will be canceled because of elections there.

The Pope will be visiting Sri Lanka on January 12 to 15.

"Ang huling narinig ko bago ako umalis ng Vatican, magkakaroon ng canonization (sa visit sa Sri Lanka). Kung makakaapekto 'yung eleksyon, wala pang announcement. A lot of it will also depend on the bishops [there]," Tagle said. —KG, GMA News
