December 17, 2014 5:41pm
Pope Francis may be celebrating his 78th birthday today, but the head of the Roman Catholic Church will celebrate his second birthday in office with simplicity.

A report on GMA News TV's Balita Pilipinas Ngayon on Wednesday said that the pontiff is set to carry on with his day-to-day activities.

The Pope has already kicked off his birthday at the Papal Audience where he greets pilgrims and visitors and delivers a catechesis. The people in St. Peter's Square also extended their birthday wishes for the Pope.

The pontiff devoted today's catechesis today to the importance of family.

"In imitation of the Holy Family, every Christian family must make a place for Jesus in its home, for it is through the love of such normal families that God's son quietly comes to dwell among us, bringing salvation to the world," the summary of the catechesis said.

Pope Francis or Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born on December 17, 1936 in Flores in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

For his 7th birthday, there will be a flash mob of 7,000 tango dancers on Risorgimento Square. — Trisha Macas/VC, GMA News
