One of the three different Popemobiles that will be used for Pope Francis' 5-day visit in the Philippines on January 15 to 19 is a brand-new customized 2015 model Isuzu D-Max.

According to reports, this Popemobile will be used to fetch the Pope upon his arrival at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, and will also be used for the papal events at Manila Cathedral and SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The Popemobile, a customized Isuzu D-Max, which will be used by Pope Francis when he visits the Philippines on January 15 to 19, is seen after it was blessed by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle last week at the Arzobispado de Manila. The Isuzu's customization took two months to complete with the help of Almazora Motors. It has been equipped with imported Italian leather and sports a Vatican emblem as approved by the Vatican, a GMA News Online source said.

It was blessed by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle last week at the Arzobispado de Manila and is now in an unspecified location.

The two other Popemobiles are a jeepney-inspired vehicle that will be used for the Pope's Mass at the Quirino Grandstand in January 18 and the Kia World Youthday Popemobile that was used by the Pope during his visit to South Korea last year. It will be used in Leyte on January 17.

Per Pope Francis' preference, all of them will be open vehicles.

The Popemobiles were all done according to the specifications of the Vatican, said Bishop Ruperto C. Santos of the Diocese of Balanga, who also chairs the Committee on Transportation for the Papal Visit, a report on GMA News TV's News TV Live said Monday.

"It is according to specifications of the Vatican, visible for all and accessible for the Holy Father to go down and meet our people. It is simple which defines the nature of his holiness, simplicity and availability to all people, especially the simple and ordinary," Santos said. Bianca Rose Dabu/BM, GMA News
