Farewell ceremony for Pope Francis as US visit ends
A departure ceremony is held for Pope Francis in Philadelphia as he departs for Rome after a historic six-day, three-city tour of the United States.
During his visit Pope Francis spoke at a joint session of the US Congress and at the UN's General Assembly. Among the topics the pope touched on were immigration, homelessness, and climate change.
Beyond the halls of power, the 78-year-old pope made numerous stops in Washington DC, New York City and Philadelphia to commune with the people, capping the visit with a huge open-air Mass in Philadelphia for hundreds of thousands of people on Sunday.
The departure ceremony will be streamed live at 6:50 a.m. (PHL Standard Time).
