Filipino bishops received a challenge from Pope Francis to reinvigorate the proclamation of the "wonder of God's mercy to the people," according to a report posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) website.
The pontiff's letter was read by Papal Nuncio Archbishop Guiseppe Pinto at the opening of the CBCP's 112th plenary assembly at the Oakridge Horizons in Cebu City on Friday.

The Pope underscored the need for the Church to spread God’s “enduring love.” He also voiced hope that during the Jubilee Year of Mercy may be the time “to gaze even more attentively on mercy so that we may become more effective sign of Father’s action in our lives.”
The Pope’s message was relayed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State.
