"Champion Powerlifter and Chad Borja's Battle with Cancer"

ADELINE DUMAPONG Despite a disability that kept her wheelchair-bound, Adeline Dumapong did not limit her dreams when she successfully lifted 110 kilograms and brought home a Bronze Medal in the Paralympics Game in Australia on 2000. This achievement made her the First Filipina Paralympics Medalist. Dumapong was born in Ifugao and was afflicted with a severe case of polio when she was three - her legs were both cut off. It was a painful decision for her parents to send her to Manila at Bahay Mapagmahal, a housing institution for youth with disabilities where she stayed for ten years. She was discovered by the International Paralympic Committee when the Rehab Department of the Philippine Orthopedic Center sent her powerlifting records. Since then, she has won in the paralympic games outside the country and was offered a free training under Zest Power Gym under Coach Ramon Deduque. Soon, he cut his own album which spawned the hit song, 'Ikaw Lang', and his career soared. In 1997, he became sick with thyroid cancer whilst in the US for a show. ADELINE DUMAPONG Sa kabila ng kapansanan at kahit naka-wheelchair, hindi ito naging hadlang kay Adeline Dumapong para abutin ang kaniyang mga pangarap - nakabuhat siya ng 110 kilograms at naiuwi ang bronze medal sa Paralympics Games sa Australia noong 2000. Dahil dito, siya ang unang Filipinong Paralympics medalist. Ipinanganak si Dumapong sa Ifugao at dinapuan ng malubhang sakit na polio noong siya ay 3 taong gulang pa lamang, and kinailangang putulin ang pareho niyang mga binti.
