Is Microsoft testing a new social search service?

Is Microsoft testing a new social search service? A tech site thinks so, after stumbling on a teaser landing page on www.socl.com. Tech site Fusible said that the service, initially codenamed "Tulalip," promises that one "can Find what you need and Share what you know easier than ever." While Fusible said the "discovery" was made July 13, visitors to the socl.com website as of Friday (in Manila) were greeted with an error message of sorts. "Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn’t mean to, honest," read the message on socl.com. Fusible said that, before the site was taken down, it suggested one can sign in to the site using a Facebook or Twitter account. However, the links on the page did not work at the time, Fusible added. On the other hand, Fusible noted the four-letter domain socl.com would have complemented bing.com, Microsoft's search engine. At the time it was first spotted, Fusible said the site was not operational. It also noted “Tulalip" is the name of a group of Native American tribes located not far from Redmond, Washington, where Microsoft is headquartered. — TJD, GMA News
