Hackers go on the attack on "Bloody Monday"

On what they called "Bloody Monday," hackers who claim to be part of Anonymous Philippines defaced several government websites in protest against the controversial Cybercrime Prevention Act.

 

The hackers, who left their cyber signatures on the websites, urged "a revision of the [Cybercrime Law] for the betterment of the Filipino denizens."

 

The government websites that were hacked include that of the National Telecommunications Commission, Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, Maritime Training Council, Maritime Industry Authority, the DOST One-Stop Information Site, and the Food Development Center (NFA). 

 

In addition to the websites of national government agencies, the websites of the Batangas provincial government, the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, and Vigan, Ilocos Sur were also hacked. 

 

The hackers also got to the Twitter account of the Department of Social Welfare and Services and left this tweet: "We are Anonymous, we do not forgive, we do not forget, united as one, divided by NONE, EXPECT US!"

 

One of the hackers, PrivateX, also called for support of a "Black Protest" rally to be held at the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning.

 

The others identified themselves as "busabos," "Anonymous Butuan," "PrivateX," "#pR.is0n3r," "Lo0p th3 Lo0p," "l4stl00k," "Blackrain," "Anonymous Manila."

 

The hackers started their hacking protest last week, intruding into the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System websites. They left messages warning of "Bloody Monday," and leaving cryptic messages such as "Expect Us." — DVM, GMA News
