World's first song ever composed and (partly) performed IN SPACE!

In space, no one can hear you scream. But nobody said anything about composing and singing.

You could say this song was indeed out of this world: it was written and partly performed in space.

Astronaut Chris Hadfield performed "I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing)" from aboard the orbiting International Space Station (ISS), CBC.ca reported.

"The song, which was written by Hadfield and Robertson in partnership with Music Monday, CBC Music and the Canadian Space Agency, explores what it's like to look down on the Earth from outer space. It will also be the official song for the 2013 edition of Music Monday, which takes place on May 6," CBC said.

But not all of the song is performed in space: Ed Robertson, the rest of the Barenaked Ladies and the Wexford Gleeks from Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, were at the CBC studios in Toronto.

CBC noted David Bowie had paid tribute to space with songs like "Starman" and "Space Oddity."

Rush, a favorite of Hadfield's, penned an entire space-rock opera, 2112, it added.

"But how will they compare to a song written in space, by an actual astronaut?" it said. — TJD, GMA News
