LulzSec hints at April 1 return

If it's a joke for April Fools Day, no one is likely to be laughing.

 

Lulz Security, the group of hackers that had attacked several government and corporate sites before disbanding last year, hinted at a comeback on April 1.

 

An article on tech site PC World cited a video posted on YouTube indicating the group will indeed return.  

 

Six of the group's members had been arrested earlier this month, PC World noted.

 

"It's ridiculous to believe that by arresting the six prime members of LulzSec that you have stopped us. You haven't stopped us. You have merely disrupted the active faction," PC World quoted the voice-over on the video as saying.

 

Visitors who tried to visit the video on YouTube were greeted with a message warning the page "has insecure content."

 

PC World said the video did not specify who will be attacked, "other than that they will be from categories of organizations that it has attacked before: Web sites of governments, corporations and agencies."

 

Last year, LulzSec was linked to a series of high-profile hack attacks before it disbanded. Some of its members transferred to another hacking collective, Anonymous.

 

Anonymous targets security firm

 

The PC World article said Anonymous in a separate video has singled out security firm Imperva a target of its activities.

 

"This is a message to the Imperva security firm. Although we do not see you as any form of threat we have determined that your interests and views may become a mild nuisance in the future therefore you yourself will become a target," PC World quoted the group as saying. — TJD, GMA News
