Angry Birds Space hits 100M download mark after 76 days

Angry Birds, the immensely popular pig-bashing video game, hit another landmark this week after its latest iteration, Angry Birds Space, surpassed the 100-million download mark in just 76 days.

Rovio disclosed this in a Twitter post, where it, uh, squawked about the achievement, according to an article on tech site The Next Web.

"100 MILLION Angry Birds Space downloads!! SQUAWK if you're in space!" Rovio tweeted .

The tweet even had a celebratory image to mark the achievement, The Next Web added.

"Oh, and there’s Angry Birds Heikki coming later this month," The Next Web quipped.

The Next Web noted Angry Birds Space enjoyed brisk sales in its first three months since its launch on March 22.

It had hit 10 million downloads three days after it launched, and 20 million within a week.

Rovio added the game hit the 50-million download mark on all platforms in just 35 days.

The Next Web also noted Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka disclosed last month that downloads of all of its Angry Birds titles topped 1 billion, with half a billion of those in the last six months alone.

"Is there any stopping the Angry Birds franchise? At the moment, it appears not," The Next Web said. — RSJ, GMA News
