Adobe fixes 25 security bugs in latest update

Adobe has patched at least 25 security flaws in its Flash Player, a widely used software used to run various types of media on computers and mobile devices.

Security vendor Sophos said the updates will apply to Flash running on Microsoft’s Windows, Apple’s Mac, Linux, and mobile platforms Android and iOS, and on its AIR software.

“The fixes cover 14 buffer overflow vulnerabilities and 11 memory corruption vulnerabilities. In each case, attackers could exploit the holes to run malicious code on vulnerable systems,” Sophos said in a blog post, citing an Adobe security bulletin.

In a security bulletin issued Monday, APSB12-22, Adobe said that the 25 security vulnerabilities were all “critical” and that those using affected versions of Flash Player or Adobe AIR should apply the patch immediately.

For their part, Microsoft and Google released similar updates for their Internet Explorer 10 and Chrome browsers, which have Flash baked in.
