DOTC web streams CCTV images of lines at each EDSA MRT station

Frequent commuters on the EDSA MRT now have advanced notice of how long or short the lines are at  any of the light rail stations along Metro Manila's main transport artery.

The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) has given the general public access via the Internet to closed-circuit television (CCTV) images emanating from all 13 EDSA MRT stations.

Commuters who have Internet access can view the CCTV images at pages of  www.dotcmrt3.gov.ph.
The North Avenue terminal has six CCTV cameras while the other 12 have four cameras each.

The DOTC said the enhancements to its CCTV system cost P3.1 million pesos. Among the new features is the capability to record video, which would be useful in identifying crime suspects or persons of interest. The DOTC said the CCTV improvements can also enable light rail managers improve their decision-making on deploying the ample number of trains, more so during peak hours in the morning and late afternoons to early evenings.  — ELR, GMA News
