Pinoy developer Anino Games bought up by Thailand's Pocket Playlab

Thailand-based casual games developer Pocket Playlab announced its acquisition of Manila-based game developer Anino Games, according to a press release sent to GMA News Online.

"Anino Games will not only help us in reaching our regional expansion plans faster, their experienced team will also be an incredible asset to our future growth and assist in our positioning as SEA’s most prominent Mobile Game Developer - Bridging the East and the West," commented Thomas Andreasen, Co-Founder of Pocket PlayLab in a press release.

Anino Games will now be called Anino Playlab.

"It was important for us to keep the history and goodwill of Anino Games in the local game development community, which is why we decided to keep the Anino (meaning shadow) as part of the transition. And with their great team backing up around this, we’re confident that we now also can call us the number 1 Games company in the Philippines!" explained Jakob Lykkegaard Pedersen, Co-Founder of Pocket Playlab in a press release.

"Being now part of Pocket PlayLab means that from developing games for other companies, we will be able to focus instead on creating new original properties which we are confident will become the hits of the future. Definitely an exciting time for our studio!" said Niel Dagondon, Chief Executive Officer of Anino Games in a press release.

Pocket Playlab, founded in January 2012, has offices located in Bangkok, Thailand and in Singapore. Their games boast over 21 million downloads.

Meanwhile, Anino Games, launched back in 2002, is the pioneer game development studio in the Philippines. Their games have also won the Independent Games Festival (2004), International Mobile Game Awards (2006 and 2007), and Indie Games Showcase (2007). — Kim Luces/TJD, GMA News
