Mashable teaches how to disable Facebook facial recognition system

To those who are worried about Facebook's facial recognition application for one reason or another, digital media website Mashable shows how to disable the system.

Mashable's tweet on May 13, shows how to turn off the system in five easy steps:

  • Click on "Quick help" at the top of Facebook
  • Click on "Privacy Shortcuts"
  • Select "More Settings"
  • Open the "Face Recognition" settings
  • Change the setting from "Yes" to "No"

The how-to video says the setting can be modified anytime and won't change even when Facebook rolls out new updates.

But it reminds subscribers of the advantages of the facial recognition system saying, "It notifies you when a photo of you is posted, and it prevents others from pretending to be you. You decide."  —LBG, GMA News
