PAGASA raises gale warning over northern Luzon

PAGASA, on Saturday, raised a gale warning in the northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon where waves are expected to reach up to 4.5 meters high.

 

The big waves are due to the surge of the northeast monsoon (Amihan), the weather bureau said. PAGASA also said fisher folk using small seacraft are advised not to set sail in said areas.

 

Meanwhile, moderate rain and thunderstorms are still expected in northern Luzon due to the existing tail-end of a cold front.

 

Light rain is expected from Sunday morning to afternoon in Aurora, Weather Central's data showed. Residents are warned of possible floods and landslides.

 

Possible isolated rains and slightly overcast skies are expected in some parts of Luzon, while light rain is expected in the eastern part where there are low chances of rain on Sunday.

Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms, PAGASA said in its 5:00 p.m. weather forecast.

 

Cordillera and Ilocos will experience cloudy with light rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Overcast skies might prevail over Visayas. Thunderstorms might hit some parts of the region. The same weather is expected in a large part of Mindanao. — Kim Luces/JDS, GMA News
