LPA expected to enter PAR Friday afternoon

Later this afternoon, a low pressure area (LPA) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). At dawn today, it was spotted 1,460 km east of southern Mindanao.

PAGASA still hasn't ruled out the possibility that it will become a storm. If it does, it will be the first to enter PAR this year and shall be named Agaton.

It might approach land on Saturday. The trough of the LPA will bring moderate rain, thunderstorms, and overcast skies in Visayas and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, Amihan is bringing isolated rain to Luzon, including Metro Manila. According to data from weather central, the probability of rain in the afternoon and at night remain low. The same weather is expected on Saturday. However, probability of rain will increase come Sunday.

Overcast skies and rain are expected in northern Luzon, Saturday.

Some parts of southern Luzon will experience rain and cloudy skies on Sunday. The same weather is expected in Visayas and Mindanao this weekend.

Due to the strong Amihan winds, a gale warning was raised by PAGASA in the seaboard of northern Luzon and Visayas, and the eastern seabord of central and southern Luzon. Fisherfolk using small seacraft are advised to avoid setting sail in said areas.— Kim Luces/TJD, GMA News
