Tropical storm Lannie expected to enter PAR Monday morning

The Philippines is in for some rain as the tropical storm with the international name Talim is set to cut into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning.

The tropical disturbance was hovering 1,745 kilometers east of Luzon on Sunday, according to a PAGASA advisory.

With maximum sustained winds of 80 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 95 km/h, the storm is expected to move west-northwest at 20 km/h towards extreme northern Luzon.

When it enters the PAR, it will be given the local designation Lannie.

PAGASA is also keeping an eye on a low pressure area (LPA), monitored at 505 km northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar as of 4 p.m. Sunday.

It is expected to bring cloudy skies and light to moderate rains or thunderstorms over the Visayas, the Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, CARAGA, and Palawan, and will exit PAR by Wednesday.

For Metro Manila, PAGASA forecasts good weather with isolated rains or thunderstorms on Monday, and cloudy skies and light to moderate rains or thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday. — Margaret Claire Layug/BM, GMA News
