Typhoon Paolo continues north-northwest track and maintains strength, speed


Typhoon Paolo continues to move in the north northwest direction as it maintains its strength and speed, the state weather bureau PAGASA reported in its Severe Weather Bulletin issued late Wednesday evening.

The center of Paolo was estimated to be 830 kilometers east of Legaspi City, Albay with maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph and is forecast to move north northwest at 16 kph.

The estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 450 km diameter of the Typhoon.

The outer rainbands of Paolo will bring scattered moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas and Caraga becoming light to moderate rains over the rest of Southern Luzon, of Visayas and of Mindanao.

PAGASA warned that residents in these areas should be on alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.

The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next weather bulletin to be issued at 11 a.m. on Thursday. — BAP, GMA News
