LPAs spotted in Palawan and Surigao del Sur

There are two Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) that PAGASA spotted about 3 a.m. on Friday.

The LPAs were estimated, based on available data, at 335 kilometers west southwest of Puerto Princesa, Palawan and at 900 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, respectively.

With the LPA, Palawan will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms. The state weather bureau warns the possibility of flooding and occurrence of landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rains.

Due to the ITCZ, Mindanao and eastern and western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. In these areas, residents are warned against possible flooding or landslides due to light to moderate rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers brought about by localized thunderstorms.

Coastal water conditions in western Visayas, Palawan, and Mindanao will be moderate to occasionally rough and slight to moderate for the rest of the country. — BAP, GMA News
