Gardo outside the PAR; Habagat to bring light to heavy rain over west Luzon, Visayas areas


Typhoon Gardo (international name: Maria) had exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility but would but still draw the southwest monsoon (habagat), PAGASA said on Wednesday morning.

As of 3 a.m., Gardo was spotted 650 kilometers north of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 195 kph. It was moving west-northwest at 35 kph.

Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon would experience light to moderate to at times heavy rain, due to the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, the Zamboanga Peninsula Region, the ARMM, Pangasinan, Marinduque, and the rest of Central Luzon and the Calabarzon Region would meanwhile experience occasional rain.

The rest of  the country could expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Winds would be strong go gale force from the southwest over the northern section of Luzon, where coastal waters would be rough to very rough.

Over the western section of southern Luzon, winds would be also be strong to gale force from the southwest with rough to very rough seas.

Winds over the rest of Luzon and the Western Visaya would be moderate to strong from the southwest with moderate to occasionally rough coastal conditions.

Finally, winds over the rest of the country would be light to moderate from the southwest to west with slight to moderate conditions over the surrounding seas. — GMA News
