LPA east-northeast of Eastern Samar; Habagat to bring light to heavy rain over Luzon, Visayas

A low-pressure area (LPA) was inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday, while the southwest monsoon (habagat) would affect the western sections of the country, PAGASA said.

As of 3 a.m., the LPA was spotted 460 kilometers east-northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

The Western Visayas, Palawan, Mindodo, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas would experience light to moderate, to at times heavy rain due to the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, the Eastern Visayas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon would also experience cloudy conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to combination of the LPA's trough and the southwest monsoon.

The rest of  the country could meanwhile expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Winds would be moderate to occasionally strong from the south to southeast over northern and Central Luzon, where coastal waters would be moderate to occasionally rough.

Over the rest of the country, winds would also be moderate to occasionally strong but from the southwest to west with moderate to occasionally rough conditions over the surrounding seas. — GMA News
