Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised over the Babuyan Group of Islands and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte as Tropical Depression Henry slightly accelerated on Tuesday, PAGASA said.

Babuyan Group of Islands and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte can expect wind speeds of 30 to 60 kph and wave heights of 1.25 to 4 meters along with rainfall as Henry continues to move westward.

Residents in the seaboards of Luzon were warned against setting sail due to adverse weather conditions.

TCWS Signal No. 1 previously raised over Batanes and northern portions of Cagayan and of Apayao were already lifted.

Henry is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday.

As of 7 a.m., the eye or center of Henry was spotted 230 km west of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum winds of up to 60 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph as it moves west at 25 kph.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring rains over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Palawan, and Western Visayas.

The rest of the country will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

An orange warning advisory was issued at 7:35 a.m. as heavy rainfall poured over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Bataan, and Batangas.

Intense rain or 15 to 30mm of rain along with threatening levels of flooding can be observed in these areas.

Rizal, Cavite, Pampanga, and Zambales are under the yellow warning level, meaning flooding is possible in low-lying areas with 7.5 to 15mm of rain pouring down in these areas.

Light to moderate rain with occasional heavy rains may persist in Laguna and Quezon for the next three hours, while light to moderate rain over Tarlac and Nueva Ecija may be expected for the next one to two hours.

Mindoro provinces, Palawan, and Western Visayas will also experience monsoon rains and were cautioned against possible flooding and landslides.

PAGASA is also monitoring a Low Pressure Area which may develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours some 780 km east of Infanta, Quezon.

The next bulletin will be issued by PAGASA at 11 a.m. —Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
