Cloudy skies, scattered rains forecast for Metro Manila


The southwest monsoon will continue to affect the western section of Luzon, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

The state weather bureau also reported that the center of Severe Tropical Storm Soulik,which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), was estimated at 2,060 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 90 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

Soulik is moving northward at 30 kph.

Another weather system, the Tropical Storm Rumbia, is outside the PAR but is also being monitored by PAGASA.

Rumbia is estimated as of early Friday morning is 1,110 kilometers north northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph and moving west northwestward at 20 kph.

Metro Manila, central Luzon, Cavite and Batangas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized storms.

PAGASA also warned that flooding and landslides are possible due to scattered rains and thunderstorms. — BAP, GMA News
