2 WEATHER SYSTEMS OUTSIDE THE PAR

Moderate to heavy rain expected over north, west Luzon areas – PAGASA

The Ilocos and Cordillera Administrative Regions, the Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, Zambales, and Bataan would experience moderate to occasionally heavy rain due to the southwest monsoon, weather service PAGASA predicted in a Monday morning forecast.

The southwest monsoon would also bring cloudy conditions accompanied with scattered rain and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, the Calabarzon Region, the Mindoro provinces, and northern Palawan

The rest of  the country could meanwhile expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied with isolated rainshowers.

Winds would be moderate to occasionally strong from the southwest over Luzon, where coastal waters would be moderate to occasionally rough.

Over the Visayas and Mindanao, winds would be light to moderate from the southwest with slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

PAGASA also reported that there were two weather systems outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

One of these was the typhoon internationally named Soulik, which was 1,670 kilometers  east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon at 3 a.m.

Soulik was moving west-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour, with 150 kph sustained winds and gusts of up to 185 kph.

The other weather system was the severe tropical storm internationally named Cimaron, which was 2,965  kms east of Luzon at 3 a.m.

Cimaron had 90 kph sustained winds which could gust up to 115 kph, and was moving northwest at 20 kph. — DVM, GMA News
