Rains to persist in parts of PHL including Metro Manila due to Habagat

Parts of the country including Metro Manila are expected to experience more rain even as Typhoon Ompong exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday night.

According to GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz in a video posted on Twitter by GMA News' JP Soriano, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat enhanced by Ompong will bring constant rainfall past the typhoon.

"May hinahatak pa itong hanging habagat, at yung hanging habagat na 'yun ang nagbibigay ng mga paguulan na minsan malakas dito sa Metro Manila," Mang Tani said.

Rainfall will persist on Sunday but will peter out as Ompong draws habagat away from the Philippines.

Ompong is expected to exit PAR on Saturday evening.

PAGASA will release a new severe weather bulletin at 8 p.m. -Rie Takumi/NB, GMA News
