LPA LOCATED TO THE EAST OF MINDANAO

Scattered rain expected over Mindanao, the Eastern Visayas

Weather service PAGASA reported in a Monday morning forecast that there was a low-pressure area (LPA) 405 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, and the LPA's trough would bring cloudy conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Eastern Visayas and whole of Mindanao.

The LPA was expected to make landfall and cut across Mindanao later in the week. The weather system would then likely reach the Sulu Sea by Thursday, where it would gain strength and turn into Tropical Depression Samuel.

Meanwhile, cloudy conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms could be expected over southern Luzon and Palawan on Monday due to a cold front's tail-end.

The rest of Luzon would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rain due to the northeast monsoon, while the rest of the Visayas could expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Coastal conditions around the entire archipelago would be from moderate to rough, except in internal seas and the Moro Gulf where sea conditions would be slight to moderate. — DVM, GMA News
