Samuel expected to make another landfall in Northern Palawan


Tropical Depression Samuel is expected to make another landfall in Northern Palawan between Wednesday night and early morning of Thursday.

According to PAGASA's 8 p.m. weather update, Signal No. 1 is still raised in five provinces: Southern Occidental Mindoro, Southern Oriental Mindoro and Palawan, including Calamian and Cuyo group of islands in Luzon; and Aklan and Antique provinces in the Visayas.

At 7:00 p.m., the center of Tropical Depression Samuel was located at 85 km Southwest of Cuyo, Palawan.

It continues to move west at 30 kph, approaching Palawan.

Samuel has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.

PAGASA warned residents of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo groups of islands, Aurora, Quezon, Mindoro Provinces, Panay island, and Guimaras on possible flooding and landslides which may be triggered by moderate to heavy rains.

Samuel is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Thursday night and Friday morning. —Dona Magsino/ LDF, GMA News
