Additional, longer trips at LRT-1 on weekends and holidays starting July 8

The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will have additional and longer trips on weekends and holidays.

GMA News' Athena Imperial said in an Unang Balita report on Monday that starting July 8, LRT-1 trains on weekends and holidays will run 30 minutes earlier at 4:30 a.m.

From 423, the number of trips on Saturdays and holidays will also be increased to 472.

Meanwhile, the number of trips on Sundays will also be raised to 353 from the current 323.

According to the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), operator of LRT-1, the extended hours and additional trips of the transit service on weekends and holidays is due to the positive feedback from the passengers on their current operating hours, which is from 4:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.

The LRMC is expecting that the new schedule will lessen the volume of passengers waiting in line for LRT trains. —Erwin Colcol/ALG/KVD, GMA News
