Actress Krista Miller acquitted of drug raps, walks free

Actress Krista Miller has been released from detention after she was acquitted of drug charges by a Valenzuela court.

Miller, whose real name is Krystalyn Engle, was released from the Valenzuela City Jail last Friday, May 25, pursuant to an order by Judge Snooky Maria Ana Bareno-Sagayo of the Valenzuela City Regional Trial Court Branch 283.

Miller was acquitted after the court granted her camp's demurrer to evidence, a plea to dismiss a case on the grounds of insufficiency of evidence presented by the prosecution.

The actress was ordered detained at the city jail on October 14, 2016, shortly after she was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation at a gasoline station in Valenzuela with her companion Aaron Medina.

Two female models nabbed prior to Miller’s arrest pointed to her as their source of drugs.

Miller and Medina faced charges for violation of Section 5 in relation to Section 26 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Both were acquitted by Branch 283 on May 22. — MDM, GMA News
