Charice a hot item among foreign magazines

Filipino international singing sensation Charice Pempengco will be gracing the pages of well known foreign magazines, including a possible cover appearance in Teen Vogue. Charice, 18, who Oprah Winfrey once described as “the most talented girl in the world," left the Philippines for New York Monday to, among others, attend meetings with magazine representatives. “Magkakaroon na ng mga pictorial para sa magazine, isa nga po dun yung Teen Vogue. Mayroon ding meetings with People Magazine, Rolling Stone and Billboard," she said in an interview at the airport before her departure. (We’ll have pictorials for magazines, and one of them is Teen Vogue. We’ll also have meetings with People Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Billboard.) According to a Chika Minute report on Monday’s “24 Oras" news program, Charice will only stay in New York for two days, after which she will embark on an Asian tour to promote her latest single, “Pyramid." She will also return to the South Korean talent show “Star King" where she once performed. It was through her performance in “Star King," which was later uploaded on the file-sharing site YouTube, that she was discovered by Oprah and talk show host Ellen Degeneres. “Doon po ako na-discover ni Miss Ellen at ni Miss Oprah (That’s where I was discovered by Miss Ellen and Miss Oprah)," Charice said, referring to Star King. Charice, the first Asian to make it to Billboard’s Top 10 album chart, was last seen singing the Philippine national anthem “Lupang Hinirang" on President Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino III’s inauguration. Charice has released two platinum albums and has appeared in “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel." She is also set to join the cast of popular television musical series “Glee" and go with the David Foster and Friends International Tour, which will have a show in the Philippines sometime in October. — KBK/RSJ, GMANews.TV
