Shalani Soledad, Rep. Roman Romulo tie the knot

Valenzuela City councilor and television host Shalani Soledad tied the knot with Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo on Sunday in a wedding ceremony in Silang, Cavite attended by political, business, and showbiz personalities.   The 31-year-old bride walked down the aisle of the St. Benedict Church in Ayala Westgrove Heights in an off-shoulder Inno Sotto gown while a slow version of the Bruno Mars song “Just the Way You Are” played in the background. She arrived at the venue 5:30 p.m., according to a report on GMA News’ “24 Oras” Sunday night.   The groom, arrived at the venue in a white Mercedes Benz past 5 p.m, wore a simple suit, while the rest of the entourage was clad in apple green and purple—the motifs of the wedding.   “[I’m] excited, a little nervous,” Romulo said in an interview. “Finally this is it. Excited talaga.”   Asked if he was able to sleep well the previous night, Romulo said: “Medyo mahirap.”   Soledad, an ex-girlfriend of President Benigno Aquino III, was engaged to Romulo last September after weeks of dating. Romulo is the son of former Foreign Affairs chief Alberto Romulo.   Soledad rose to national prominence after actively campaigning for Aquino in the 2010 elections. They broke up a few months after he was elected President, and she has since gone on to co-host a daily game show while immersing herself in local politics.   The President did not attend the wedding but wished Soledad a happy married life with Romulo.   Among the VIPs who stood as principal sponsors in the wedding were Senator Panfilo Lacson, Foreign Affairs chief Albert del Rosario, San Miguel Corp. president Ramon Ang, PLDT and TV-5 chairman Manuel Pangilinan, and clothing tycoon Ben Chan.   Ilocos Norte Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas stood as one of Romulo’s groomsmen, while Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco was one of the offerers. Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, meanwhile, served as one of the readers during the wedding Mass.   Reception was held at the Nuvali Eco Center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. — Andreo C. Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
