The much-anticipated and buzzed about auditions for the West End production of the musical “Miss Saigon” was an opportunity of a lifetime for many local actors, especially for those who tried out for the lead role of Kim—the very same role that shot Lea Salonga to fame. But the road to stardom is a long and hard one, with actors having to meet the panel’s high expectations and make it past several rounds of callbacks. As the auditions closed Thursday, only a handful out of hundreds of hopefuls made it through. Danny Pata captured these scenes from the musical's audition at the Opera Haus in Makati City, where the door to Miss Saigon and its aspirants were joined by the gods of fortune.
