Pinky Amador on Max Collins: 'I love her to death'

To many, disliking the kontrabida is already second nature because these villains’ characters make them so easily hateful. In some cases, however, what we see on television is in no way similar to what happens when the cameras stop rolling.

Unlike what viewers can expect to see in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime show ‘Innamorata’, veteran actress Pinky Amador has a soft spot for her on-screen daughter Max Collins. Despite this being the first time that the two will get to work together, Pinky said they hit it off immediately.

Though the dynamic could get challenging since she has to be the evil adoptive mother during the scenes, Pinky tries to make amends by making sure that Max is okay after they shoot.

“It’s hard ‘cause I’m being so mean to her (in the show) eh. Syempre after a scene, (I ask) ‘Are you okay?’ May mga eksena na hindi alam ni Max na tatatapunan ko siya ng something. The director tells me, ‘Gulatin mo. Huwag mong sabihin.’ (But Max) is so game. She’s a very intelligent, able, young girl,” Pinky said.

The TV, film and theatre actress also shared how she feels blessed that she’s able to establish such strong connections with her on-screen children. Antoinette Taus, who played her daughter in a series over fifteen years ago, remains a friend.

“I just had a reunion with Antoinette Taus. We played mother and daughter for five years in Anna Karenina,” she shared.

“I’m really lucky that all the kids who play my daughters, I get along with in a really good way. I’m so lucky that (they) are obviously beautiful, they’re smart, they’re really quite well-bred… We get along well on an individual basis, (and) not just because we’re working together. They all seem to put up a nice individuality, a nice intelligence and a very good grasp of the industry,” Pinky added.

Though Max’s character in the show loses Pinky’s character’s affection, the opposite holds true in real life. “We found comfort in each other… Max is a nice, decent, young girl… I love her to death,” the latter put.

Pinky has also been won over by the rest of her companions in the show. “What I love is the camaraderie. We all get along. Mababait lahat, walang may ere… It’s actually a very nice, intelligent cast. There’s a nice understanding. Magaan (talaga),” she described.
