Kapuso stars, sumabak sa ALS Ice Bucket Challenge; Dingdong at Marian, ninominate ni Julie Anne

Over the past few weeks, social media has been teeming with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The goal is to raise funds and awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, a condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

The feat is to dump a bucket of ice water on yourself or have a lucky friend do it. You then get to nominate other people who have to comply within 24 hours. Not completing the challenge within the allotted time will require the nominee to donate to the ALS Association.

Having gone viral, donations have now reached millions as celebrities have also taken up the cause and donated their own money on top of accepting the challenge. Giant names in show business such as Oprah Winfrey, Robert Downey, Jr. and Taylor Swift have jumped on the band wagon.

The campaign has since reached local shores as Mark Herras recently took up the dare. Going one step further, the Kapuso hunk announced that his close friends in show business “The Tikis” will open a bank account where people can send in their donations. The money they raise will go directly to ALS Association.

The challenge has now spread to Christian Bautista, Kris Lawrence and Enzo Pineda, all of whom were more than willing to comply.

The latest local celebrity to muster up the guts for the challenge is no other than Julie Anne San Jose.

The actress and pop star has since called out big names in the industry - Michael V., Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes. On top of this, Julie Anne has called on all her fans the “Adiks” to join in. -- Kitin Cariaga, GMANetwork.com
