TO WORK WITH TAPE, INC.

Kris Aquino confirms leaving ABS-CBN

Actress-host Kris Aquino has confirmed that she has left her long-time home network ABS-CBN.

In a series of Instagram posts early Monday, Aquino explained the circumstances around her departure from the Kapamilya network, her home station for some 20 years.

She also revealed that she would be working with TAPE Inc. and APT Entertainment big boss Tony Tuviera.

She earlier revealed she would be shooting starting September 22, but it was not explicitly stated if her new venture will be aired on GMA-7.

TAPE Inc. produces Eat Bulaga, while APT Entertainment led the production of the AlDub starrer "Imagine You & Me."

'Goodbye'

Aquino said she was set to sign "a generous, less demanding agreement" with the network in February, "but at the time there was a threat to my life we needed to take seriously," along with health concerns and a need to spend time with her family.

"We didn't sign then, I went to Hawaii, came back to campaign, then left again. Our agreement was we'd talk when I got back," she wrote.

The said talk happened in July, she said, adding that by that time, "there was no definite show and no assured tiem frame of my return on air."

"That is the risk of taking time for yourself—when you come back there's no guarantee that a space will be held for you," she wrote.

She added: "I perfectly understood—as much as I wanted to believe I was a pillar of the network, everybody is dispensable. And I say that with no bitterness, just HONESTY."

"So to all of you saying please don't leave—it wasn't a choice that was just mine to make. I take my share of the responsibility," she went on.

'Mr. T'

With her departure from the Kapamilya network, Aquino said she would be working with Tuviera, who she met in late July.

"Our plan was initially just a digital initiative—I know you miss my #foodtrips & my #cooking #recipes #roadtrips & #travel... But maybe my guardian angel in heaven (could it have been you, Mom?) was working overtime & what was an attempt at something new & experimental, evolved into a vision & a presentation that felt perfect for who I am now & for our TV collaboration," she wrote.

She added that "Mr. T" had approached her mother, the late President Cory Aquino, many years ago, saying he wanted to produce a show for her.

"Mr. T actually remembered coming to our home in Times Street in 1986 to meet my Mom to produce a show for me when I was 15 years old. (Thirty) 30 years after—dumating na ang TAMANG PANAHON," she said.

'Thank you'

Aquino then expressed her gratitude to ABS-CBN "for all that was," and to her APT "family, for all that will be."

The actress-host said she will be leaving on Monday with her two sons, Josh and Bimby, an "advanced making up on my part because I have an exceptionally full work calendar until Christmas."

"They had so much of me for 4 months, so we'll be adjusting," she said.

She added: "This is the 1st & last I shall say about this chapter of my life. You deserved the true story & I gave you my truth, so that we may all move forward." — Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/NB, GMA News
