Singer Joey Albert, cancer survivor, prays for Cory Aquino

MANILA, Philippines - Canada-based singer Joey Albert, a survivor of cervical cancer, extended her prayers to former President Corazon Aquino, who has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer. "She’s a very inspiring woman and I’m sure she will use this to inspire others," Albert said in an interview following her successful charity concert in Hamilton, Bermuda for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga. The interview was aired on Tuesday over the "Chika Minute" section of 24 Oras, GMA Network's early evening newscast. On Tuesday, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino III announced that the results of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests on the former president have been encouraging so far. The senator said his mother could now taste food, unlike before when she would say her food was too sweet or salty. The former President's website has also attracted well-wishers from all over the world who have posted messages of hope for her. After beating her cervical cancer twice, Albert assured the former president that she’ll “breeze right through this." "My prayers are with you," she said, addressing Aquino through the camera. Albert is now also a preschool teacher and the ambassadress to Canada of Gawad Kalinga, a Philippine-based group started in 1995 by the Couple for Christ to build homes for the poor. - GMANews.TV
