Eugene Domingo named Best Actress in 26th Tokyo International Film Festival for Barber's Tales

Eugene Domingo won the Best Actress award in the 26th Tokyo International Film Festival for Barber‘s Tales.

Directed by Jun Robles Lana, Barber's Tales is a drama film set in a rural town during the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship in the 1970s.

In the film, Eugene plays a woman who took over a barbershop business when her husband died.

"Kampante ako na Pilipino ako at meron tayong puwesto pagdating sa Asian cinema o sa world cinema," said Eugene Domingo in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last October 22, just a few days before the awarding ceremony was held in Japan.

The versatile actress also said in this particular interview: "Gusto ko talagang maging instrumento na makilala tayo sa Asian cinema.”
