Katy Perry confirms The Dolls as special guest for Asian tour

American singer-songwriter Katy Perry has invited the female DJ-duo The Dolls as special guests during The Prismatic World Tour in Asia, which includes a stop in the Philippines on May 7 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

After their debut in the music industry three years ago, The Dolls, made up of DJ Mia Moretti and electric violinist Caitlin Moe, have been spending their time curating musical performances inside both The Louvre and The Guggenheim museums; opening for legendary musicians such as Janet Jackson, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder; and touring the US.

The duo also landed on the Billboard charts for their remixes of artists such as Cat Power, Robyn, Rye Rye, and Katy Perry. They had also been booked in major festivals such as Coachella and the Sundance Film Festival.

Mia and Caitlin recently released their debut single entitled “Summer of 93”, following it up with another single called “Southern Swing” which featured The Original Pinettes - the only all-female brass band from New Orleans.

They had also received positive reviews from Paper Magazine, who named them DJ of the Year, as well as the Wall Street Journal, Teen Vogue, Elle and Billboard Magazine, who called their musical debut a "nostalgic, moody, and gorgeously crafted indie-pop tune."

Aside from the Philippines, The Dolls will also open Katy's shows in Macau, Tokyo, Jakarta, Singapore, and Bangkok. — Bianca Rose Dabu/FRJ/DVM, GMA News
