PBA: Ginebra's Air Force Ellis wins 2013 All-Star slam dunk competition

Barangay Ginebra rookie Chris Ellis leaned on stellar elimination round scores to take the 2013 PBA All-Star Weekend dunk crown, Friday, in Digos City, Davao del Sur. Ellis defeated teammate Elmer Espiritu in the final round with an elbow dunk. Elmer Espiritu and Chris Ellis competed for Ginebra, while Alaska was represented by Calvin Abueva. Cliff Hodge was there for Meralco, while Petron had Arwind Santos. Espiritu started the competition with a score of 43, while Abueva and Ellis had perfect 50s. Hodge struggled to make a clean attempt to end with a 38, while Santos rounded out the first batch of dunks with a 45. The second round had Espiritu improving with a 47, while Calvin Abueva took several tries for a 38. Ellis opted for a windmill for another perfect score, as Hodge made it interesting, also scoring a perfect 50 for jumping over former NLEX Road Warriors teammate Ellis. Santos leaned on a safe attempt from under the basket for a 43. The final round was an all-Ginebra showdown. In the first round, Espiritu threw an alleyoop to himself for a clean 45. Ellis muffed his first three tries, before knocking his attempt down for a 44. In the final round, Espiritu went to Mark Barroca for some help. Barroca tried to lob it from the stands, but Espirity could not convert a clean one for a 25. Ellis this time got help from Hodge, as the Bolt flipped it up for the Gin King's elbow dunk for a better 49.  - GMA News Round 1 Espiritu 43 Abueva 50 Ellis 50 Hodge 38 Santos 45 Round 2 Espiritu 47 Abueva 38 Ellis 50 Hodge 50 Santos 43 Finals Round 1 Espiritu 45 Ellis 44 Finals Round 2 Espiritu 25 Ellis 49
